College Kids and Ice Cream...A Great Combo!

The 2014/15 school year at Bethel College is underway. And there is nothing like the annual ice cream social hosted by the Bethel College Parents Association to acknowledge that students have moved in, fall athletes are battling mid-August temperatures and staff and faculty are nose deep in welcoming eager learners to the campus.

This past Saturday the cafeteria was buzzing with students as they devoured GALLONS of ice cream and spooned on nearly every imaginable topping. Fudge sauce, peanuts, strawberries and even Gummy Bears made the list.

Thanks to the College for helping the Parents Association provide this welcoming event. An ice cream social speaks to the charm of a smaller college and embodies the good vibes that come from being social while enjoying one of summer time's favorite treats.
Here's to a great school year!

Old, New, Borrowed and...Blue?

No, this isn’t about a wedding. Oddly enough, I believe this old adage suits the Parents Association, well, except for maybe the Blue part. I have to think about that.

The 2014-15 school year brings back some Old, oops, I mean returning, members of the Parents Council (the governing board of the Parents Association) and that means some continuity from last year. Especially good as we think about what went well and what……..didn’t. Was there anything?

Incoming freshmen mean New freshman parents have joined the Council and, hopefully, others will join the Association. After all, Association Dues (don’t be alarmed by the whopping $25.00 a year fee per family) help underwrite the cost of activities hosted by the Parents Association (ice cream social, Fall Fest events, study snacks during finals, etc.).

Borrowed ideas from last year are sure to help new and returning students feel supported and cared for by all of Bethel’s parent population. But, that doesn’t mean new ideas, like this blog instead of a newsletter, aren’t welcome. In fact, they are encouraged. Contact The Student Life Department and talk to Patsy.

Blue…… Awww, now I’ve got one. Don’t make us talk ‘til we’re Blue in the face about joining the Parents Association.  It’s for the students! Talk to Patsy Dirksen and she can fix you up.
